yesterday was winter international lolita day! i went to a meet up with my local comm where we exchanged our secret santa gifts and hung out!! i might have mentioned this already, but this was my first time going to a meet up in a very long time and only my second time overall, so i was pretty nervous! but i still had a lot of fun despite being a bit shy and awkward at times ( ̄▽ ̄)ゞ
despite my nerves and awkwardness, i got to chat with a lot of really lovely people in my comm! it was also just really nice to be in lolita surrounded by other lolita's... there was a lot of style variety too! gothic, sweet, classic, casual, old school, ouji... i couldn't stop looking around at everyone's coords, they were all so cute!
the gift exchange went really well too!! i should've taken a picture of what i got for my name before it was wrapped and given, but i got them a nice set of black and red gothic accessories since they mentioned wanting some on their wishlist. they seemed really happy with it!! i'm excited to see if they post any coord pics using them in the future ☆
on my end, i was so happy with the things i got... they were all things i put on my wishlist but i was still so surprised and delighted... in all, i got these really soft and cute little legwarmers that i think will look so darling over booties, a my melody head bow that will be super useful in lots of jfashion outfits outside of lolita too, and an incredible macaron carousel necklace. the necklace is probably the thing i'm most excited about, it's so well-made and cute!!! i don't have any nice accessories like this for lolita yet, so finally getting to own one feels really special... i can't stop looking at it!!!
through the discord, i also found out that a local artist i've been trying to find at cons is in the comm! i saw these cute little brooch/hair clips she sells at a con YEARS ago and didn't pick them up at the time. i have been regretting it ever since. i'm not kidding, for the past like five or so years i've been specifically looking for her at cons to try and buy one of these. so i shamelessly asked if i could buy some from her to bring to the event and she said yes!!! they're so cute and well-made, if you're a lolita (or just someone who likes cute stuff in general!) i highly recommend checking out seamii!
and of course... my coord! photo courtesy of the comm photography boyfriend/husband (i didn't get a chance to ask LOL) who was so kind and did so much work setting up a cute spot for us! he even brought photography lights and was dressed in a nice, almost pseudo-victorian suit to be in the spirit of the meet. i found it very heartwarming how engaged he was in his partners hobby, and all the pictures came out so gorgeous!!! please ignore my sneakers. i had an hour and a half commute and errands to run while i was downtown.
i wrote last time that i was planning to come back with a 2025 review (including my halloween costume, which is becoming more and more out of season by the day) but i was just so excited to talk about this that i had to dip in early!! i hope you're all doing well and having a relaxing and fun holiday season, whether you celebrate anything or not! ♡
